Bexhill Beach Barbeque

images

St Mary Magdaene's Youth Club enjoyed a barbeque on the beach at Bexhill. About 13 boys from the Youth Club and 6 language student girls from France, Italy and Sweden met for burgers sauages, soft drinks and cakes and bisuits. After the barbeque a game of Rounders took place on the sand. The team with the girls were clear winners.

Chief barbequer Peter Dolan made sure that everyone had their fill of freshly cooked burgers and sausages and there was an ample supply of lemonade, Coke, cakes and biscuits. Guests of honour were Fr Chris and Fr Sylwester who uncanningly seemed to arrive the moment the first burger came off the grill. The food and ambience was top notch and everyone did their bestto promote international understanding between five countries represented (England, France, Italy, Sweden & Poland). The boys couldn't pronounce the name of one of the Swedish girls but this proved not to be a problem as she was quiclky re-named as Bruno. We all met on the beach between the clock tower and the Sovereign Light Cafe wher a lovely beach hut was put at our disposal. By 7 p.m. the burgers and sauasages were 'rolling off' the production line, ably managed by Peter Dolan. After everyone was full we decided to play rounders on the sand. The eam with the girls was highly efficient and won the game by a comfortable margin. At about 9:30 the night was drawing in and the weather turning cold so we ended a spendid night on the beach. Thanks to all who made iot possible.
